This internal advertisement is for a SES (Selected Exempt Service) position located at Central Office in Tallahassee, FL in the Office of Community Corrections.

The mission of the Office of Community Corrections at the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) is to enhance public safety by effectively supervising offenders in the community. The Office of Community Corrections is dedicated to fostering partnerships with community organizations, law enforcement, and other stakeholders to ensure a collaborative approach to community supervision and public safety

This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.

 

JOB DUTIES:

  • Lead and Support Teams: Oversee employees, providing guidance, technical assistance, and procedural support for the Interstate Compact and Training Units.
  • Effective Communication: Manage projects, direct employees' work, evaluate performance, and coordinate on-the-job training.
  • Strategic Planning: Participate in setting goals and objectives to align with the Department's mission.
  • Statewide Leadership: Serve as the Interstate Compact Administrator for the Office of Community Corrections.
  • Ensure Compliance: Coordinate reviews and audits to meet regulatory standards.
  • Policy Development: Assist in creating and revising policies, procedures, rules, and forms for Community Corrections.
  • Training Excellence: Oversee staff and processes at Correctional Probation Officer Academies, develop training curriculum, and deliver training.
  • Legislative and Emergency Support: Analyze legislation, support legislative bill analysis, implement legislative changes, and provide emergency management coordination.

REQUIREMENTS:

Please note, when submitting a college/university degree, if selected for this position official transcripts will be required.

  • Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Must possess a Training Instructor Certification.
  • Must have five (5) years of experience working with interstate compact cases.
  • Must have five (5) years of supervisory experience.
  • Must have fifteen (15) years of corrections experience.
  • Must have at five (5) years as a Correctional Probation Officer.
  • Must be currently employed by the Florida Department of Corrections.

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT

The Florida Department of Corrections requires all job applicants and volunteers to pass a Level 2 background check as per Chapter 435, Florida Statutes. This check must be completed before they can start working or volunteering.
