JOB SUMMARY:
Researches all state and federal tax statutes, court cases, rules, and regulations affecting the operations of the Department’s General Tax Administration (GTA). Responsible for providing legal representation in petitions for administrative hearings and civil lawsuits challenging the Department’s tax assessments, refund denials, and garnishment actions, as well as administrative complaints and injunctive actions against Florida taxpayers’ tax certificates of registration. Under the general direction of the Chief Legal Counsel, General Tax, and with assistance from senior attorneys, represents the Department in all phases of litigation including research, preparation of pleadings, discovery, preparation of witnesses, hearings, settlement negotiations, and trial, as assigned. Serves as “second chair” to Assistant Attorneys General during proceedings before the Division of Administrative Hearings, and trial and appellate courts of the State of Florida.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Law degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
- Admission to the Florida Bar.
PREFERENCES:
- If applying within two years of graduation from law school, top 50% of law school graduating class.

SALARY: Anticipated annual salary is $64,000.
