The Work You Will Do:
The Department has an attorney position in its procurement practice division. This position is in the general procurement practice group, which supports the Division of Real Estate Development and Management, the Division of Specialized Services (which handles fleet management and federal surplus property), and the Division of Retirement. This attorney will have the opportunity to develop a proficiency in the state and federal laws affecting these program areas and will provide strategic legal advice and counsel in the areas of procurement, rulemaking, and bill analysis.
This position may also have the opportunity to handle litigation for the program areas from time to time.

How You Will Grow:
This position is the only entry-level position within this practice group, allowing the selected candidate the opportunity to learn from the senior-level positions it works with. This position also provides the opportunity to develop an expertise in procuring and negotiating contracts in the niche area of public real estate and construction, as well as in a variety of areas related to the Division of Specialized Services and Division of Retirement. The program areas that this position supports handles issues for a range of state agencies, allowing the attorney ongoing exposure to the operations of other state entities and the unique opportunity to assist with developing and implementing policies that take into account the varying needs of numerous stakeholders.
The Office of General Counsel also supports attorney development by providing Continuing Legal Education opportunities and allowing its attorneys to gain exposure to other areas of the law that the office assists with by promoting collaboration and cross-training in these highly specialized areas (e.g., employment and labor relations, health care). Ultimately, these positions will allow the right candidates the opportunity to gain practical experience and grow professionally while working alongside a team of talented and professional attorneys in a collegial atmosphere.

The attorney should possess the following:
• Superior verbal and written communication skills.

Qualifications:
- A juris doctor from an accredited law school by June 2025.
- Admission to, and good standing with, the Florida Bar within one year of hire.
- Experience in administrative law (preferred).
