As an Attorney Supervisor in the Prosecution Services Unit (PSU), you will train and supervise a team of attorneys who serve as counsel of record on important healthcare licensure matters directly impacting the health and safety of the public. Our attorneys present before statewide healthcare licensure boards and administrative law judges and are responsible for handling litigation from start to finish.

Free CLE

You will have access to over 20 hours yearly of free CLE credit regarding all aspects of administrative litigation and general practice, including potential opportunities to present CLEs with our experienced healthcare litigation attorneys.

 

Training and Support

Our chief attorneys will work closely with you to promote a supportive environment for your team and to assist you in navigating litigation and management challenges. You will also collaborate with your chief attorney and other attorney supervisors to provide both formal and informal training to attorneys on topics relevant to their role, such as healthcare and administrative law, agency procedures, interpersonal skills, and litigation. 

 

Responsibilities and Opportunities:

Case Management: You will manage an inventory of cases, review case files, consult with expert witnesses, develop legal opinions, and prepare legal pleadings and memoranda.

 

Appearance Before Professional Licensing Boards: You will present cases before healthcare licensure boards across the State of Florida. As an Attorney Supervisor, you will take an active leadership role in representing PSU before the boards and building trust and rapport with them.

 

Litigation: You will represent the Department before the Division of Administrative Hearings, managing all aspects of litigation from trial preparation to post-hearing pleadings.

 

Public Health Responsibilities: You will also respond to public records requests and inquiries from opposing counsel, licensees, members of the public and other agencies regarding ongoing cases.

 

Supervision and Training:  You will supervise a team of prosecuting attorneys and be responsible for ensuring that they are effectively and efficiently managing their caseloads and resolving cases through settlement or litigation. You will also provide training and guidance to your team on an ongoing basis and assist with complex litigation as needed.

Qualifications:

Active membership in the Florida Bar.

Minimum of three years of legal experience.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Incumbents must have an extensive, specialized knowledge of applicable laws, statutes, and rules and apply this knowledge to resolve problems of a specialized nature in a wide range of scenarios.  The job requires making decisions where standard procedures may be inadequate to determine courses of action, and decisions have long-term impact relating to policy and legal precedence.
