The General Counsel’s Office has many areas of Business and Administrative Law.

The Work You Will Do:

The Office of the General Counsel, Condominiums, Timeshares, and Mobile Homes Legal Unit, is seeking a highly motivated individual who is organized, possesses excellent writing skills, and can take initiative and build strong, productive relationships. This is a highly responsible position in the Office of the General Counsel and will report directly to the Deputy General Counsel of Business. This position will assist the Department in enforcing Chapter 718, Florida Statutes.

Your Specific Responsibilities:

• Evaluates investigative reports and evidence.
• Analyzes violations of statutes or administrative rules for regulated professions and recommends appropriate action.
• Research/drafts/reviews/amends pleadings, complaints, motions, dismissal orders, consent orders, settlement agreements and memoranda of law.
• Negotiates settlements.
• Reviews, edits, and evaluates proposed rule packages.
• Responds to consumer and industry inquiries.
• Analyzes bills.
• Compiles exhibits.
• Prepares witnesses to testify.
• Takes and defends depositions.
• Initiates and responds to discovery.
• Prosecutes and defends enforcement actions before the Division of Administrative Hearings and the agency's informal hearing officer.
• Prosecutes and defends final orders, emergency suspension orders, declaratory judgments, and rule waiver and variance decisions.
• Provides legal advice to division staff and other agency employees.

Minimum Requirements: 

• Must have a valid driver's license; and
• Must be a member of The Florida Bar in good standing; and
• Must have at least one to three years of professional experience in the practice of law.

Preferred:

• Must be a member of the Florida Bar in good standing.
• One to three years of experience in the practice of administrative law.
