MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in biological, physical, natural, or agricultural sciences and three (3) years of related professional experience; or
A master’s degree from an accredited college or university as described above and two (2) two years of related professional experience as described above; or
A doctorate from an accredited college or university as described above.

This position has regulatory responsibilities and is subject to the provisions of s. 112.313, Florida Statutes, and Section 60L-36.003, Florida Administrative Code.

JOB DUTIES:
Identify, develop and apply for biological and ecological research grants applicable to division activities and aquaculture industry scientific priorities, and assist with administration of awarded grants.
Produce and maintain division publications covering aquaculture science, policy and regulatory topics.
Conduct, analyze and distribute research reports related to aquaculture production, permitting and policy and division programs. Assist with documenting the effectiveness of the Aquaculture Best Management Practices program and other division policies and procedures.
Participate in local, regional, national and international groups with work encompassing critical analysis of reports, programs and management plans, as well as development and implementation of aquatic species management plans relative to aquaculture best management practices.
Develop public educational materials and participate in outreach activities.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

- Knowledge of the terminology, principles and techniques used in biological research, analysis or testing.
- Knowledge of the methods of data collection.
- Skill in the use of scientific laboratory and field equipment.
- Ability to produce and maintain publications and presentations.
- Ability to collect, record and analyze scientific data relating to the biological sciences. Ability to conduct biological research, studies or analyses using scientific methods and techniques.
- Ability to perform quantitative analysis of scientific data.
