Duties and Responsibilities:


- Coordinate and develop program spending plans by monitoring, reconciling, and tracking expenditures, corrections, allotments, and projections. Conduct comprehensive review, identify, and analyze budget issues and develop recommended solutions for presentations to appropriate leadership.

- Organize and facilitate meetings with programs and ensure pertinent fiscal/budgetary materials and information are available for monthly spend plan review meetings, annual development of the Department's Approved Operating Budget, and other meetings as necessary.

- Prepare the fiscal analysis for proposed and enrolled bills. Monitor progress of legislation, committee and conference meetings, and other legislative actions. Develop presentations related to the Department's budget as needed.

- Review and approve pending contracts and requisitions with established guidelines and procedures. Develop and provide reports regarding requisitions/contract activity and projected deliverables. Research and compile information necessary for budget planning, monitoring, and accountability.

- Analyze monthly department budgeting and accounting reports to maintain expenditure controls, monitor budget balances, and validate the accuracy of data and projections. Act proactively by recognizing important trends that will affect a program. Communicate any issues/problems with appropriate program and management.

- Gather and compile data needed for special assignments, inquiries, or requests.

- Analyze needs, prepare cost estimates, and recommend sound options on how appropriations can be allocated to programs for the development of the Department's Legislative Budget Request and Approved Operating Budget. Review LBR issues and AOB allocation methodologies for accuracy.

- Coordinate the solution of budgetary issues with other budget analysts and work with appropriate staff or partners to solve problems or find answers to budgetary issues and questions.

- Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.


Knowledge and skills required for the position:


- Ability to effectively use standard computer programs; ability to prepare written work products; ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing; knowledge of the principles and practices of Budget; ability to perform analytical work; ability to work independently and prioritize work assignments.
