Duties and Responsibilities
As a Budget Analyst - C SES within the Office of Financial Management, this role plays a critical part in ensuring the responsible allocation and oversight of public funds. The primary focus is on budget preparation, financial and grant analysis, and compliance to support the agency's operational and strategic goals.
A Budget Analyst - C SES assists in the development of the agency's annual budget request, analyzing financial data to project future funding needs and making recommendations for budget allocations.
By monitoring expenditures and evaluating spending trends, they ensure that financial resources are used efficiently and in alignment with state regulations and policies.
Additionally, the role involves preparing reports for agency leadership, the Governor's Office, and the Legislature, ensuring compliance with Florida Statutes and administrative codes. Budget Analysts also play a key role in legislative budget inquiries and audits, providing critical insights and recommendations.
This position also supervises two staff members, providing guidance on budget processes, financial reporting, and compliance requirements. The Budget Analyst - C SES ensures that the team operates effectively, delivering accurate and timely financial data to support decision-making.
This position will support the agency's transition from the FLAIR (Florida Accounting Information Resource) system to Florida PALM (Planning, Accounting, and Ledger Management). This transition represents a significant modernization of the state's financial management processes, and the Budget Analyst - C SES plays a key role in ensuring a seamless shift by assisting with system implementation, data migration, and process adaptation.
Collaboration is essential, as the Budget Analyst - C SES works closely with department heads and program managers to align financial planning with operational priorities. They also coordinate with the Governor's Office of Policy and Budget, offering technical guidance on funding requests and financial procedures.

Skill in operating personal computers, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and other financial management software.

Preferred Qualifications
