This open competitive advertisement is for a SES (Selected Exempt Service) position located at Central Office in the Bureau of Professional Development & Training.
The mission of the Bureau of Professional Development & Training at the Florida Department of Corrections is to provide comprehensive training and development programs for staff. This ensures that employees are well-equipped with the necessary skills, knowledge, and competencies to perform their duties effectively and efficiently, promoting professional growth and enhancing the overall performance of the Department.
This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.
JOB DUTIES:
- Lead Training Excellence: Oversee all phases of training and professional development for Department of Corrections employees statewide, including basic recruit training.
- Set Goals and Monitor Progress: Develop work plans, set objectives, and ensure staff achieve their training goals.
- Create Training Policies: Formulate and prepare statewide policies for mandatory training of both certified and non-certified staff.
- Advise and Support: Provide guidance to supervisors on staff development issues and support the Secretary on training matters.
- Manage and Innovate: Oversee daily operations, advanced training delivery, budget management and approvals, oversee training related procurement and contract management, and implement cutting-edge training initiatives like video production and interactive computer-based training.

REQUIREMENTS:

- Ten (10) years of progressive leadership experience in a criminal justice agency, military, or paramilitary environment.
- Demonstrated expertise in training material or curriculum development and delivery.
- Demonstrated experience in staff management.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrated experience in procurement and contract management.
- Demonstrated experience providing creative solutions to complex problems.
- Demonstrated experience in managing competing stakeholder interests in medium or large projects.
- Four (4) years of professional development and training experience. Postsecondary education may substitute on a year for year basis for this experience.
Support of knowledge, skills, and abilities should be demonstrated on the application, in the education, in the work experience, in the work sample, in the interview and/or during reference checks.

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT
