Overview:

The Florida Gaming Control Commission is responsible for exercising all regulatory and executive powers of the state with respect to legal gaming, including pari-mutuel wagering, cardrooms, slot machine facilities, oversight of gaming compacts, and other forms of gambling authorized by state law, excluding the Lottery, as well as directly enforcing Florida’s gaming laws and combatting illegal gambling activities.

 

The agency is overseen by five Commissioners who are appointed by the Governor, with Commissioners appointing an Executive Director who leads a team of nearly 200 staff members. The mission of the Florida Gaming Control Commission is to preserve and protect the integrity of gaming activities through fair regulation, licensing, effective criminal investigation, and enforcement.

Position Duties and Responsibilities:

The Commission is seeking a Business Manager I to serve as Property Administrator, Commodities Receiver, Contract Manager to assigned contracts, Supervisor to 2 FTE Front desk administrative staff which manages agency mail and receipt of checks.

 

Working under the direction of the Director of Administration, the Business Manager’s duties are as follow:

  • Supervises the Commission’s front desk receptionist and runner positions.
  • Developing and maintaining policies and procedures governing the operation of the Commission’s Property Asset Program.
  • Disseminating and training employees on policies and procedures relating to property assets.
  • Agency receiver of all ordered commodities at Headquarters in Tallahassee.
  • Identifying and tagging property correctly and adding the required information into the Property Asset Management System Database.
  • Work cohesively with the Division of Administration's accounting and purchasing staff and information technology staff to ensure all property is accounted for in both the FLAIR database and the Property Asset Management Database.
  • Managing and documenting appropriately all surplus property.
  • Conducting an official, annual,  comprehensive inventory of all tracked property.
  • Occasional assembly and disassembly of office equipment and furniture.
  • Working with purchasing staff to identify any necessary equipment and/or services to help facilitate office moves.
  • Stocking and maintaining the supply closet.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of the State of Florida’s property asset management, surplus property, and general property policies and procedures.
  • Skill in operating personal computer software: word processing, databases, spreadsheets, etc.
  • Ability to work independently; follow verbal and written instruction; work with users of varying technical expertise; communicate effectively verbally and in writing; operate a motor vehicle safely.
  • Ability to utilize Microsoft Suite, (i.e. word processing, spreadsheets, and databases).
  • Teamwork skills necessary to work within the unit. 
  • Ability to lift 75 pounds.
  • Move heavy items as needed. Delivers reams of paper throughout the Commission.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience related to property asset management with state government.
  • High School Diploma and three years project management/facilitation experience related to program implementation, or program operational experience managing projects involving multiple divisions/bureaus/units relating to property asset management.
  • Two (2) years of experience managing a project from beginning to completion.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Preference will be given to applicants with a Project Management Professional certification.
  • Experience with receiving and distribution of goods, maintaining a property asset database, and assembling various furniture and equipment. 
  • Experience utilizing MyFloridaMarketPlace.
