Position Description:

The Office of Capital Collateral Regional Counsel Northern Region (CCRC-N) is accepting applications for an opening for the full-time position of Investigator to participate in providing postconviction representation to people on Florida’s Death Row. CCRC-N investigators are responsible for gathering facts and mitigation information about our clients and their cases. General areas of responsibility include interviewing our clients; locating and interviewing witnesses, family members, experts, law enforcement personnel and others with knowledge of the case or client; locate, gather and organize documents from various offices and agencies; review case documents; conduct thorough research into an individual’s family and social history; prepare comprehensive written reports; serve subpoenas; visit crime scenes; review evidence; testify in court; assist attorneys and other office staff in preparation for court proceedings; and other duties as assigned. The job requires extensive overnight travel, including out of state and working non-traditional hours. This position also requires considerable resourcefulness, creativity, initiative and drive. A commitment to working with indigent clients is a must.

 

Requirements:

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in criminal justice, sociology, psychology, or other related field; criminal investigative experience, preferably at a public defender’s office; mitigation experience; computer literacy, including investigative databases; and a valid driver’s license.

 

Salary and Benefits:

Salary starts at $60,000, depending on experience. Remote work will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
