POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Capital Collateral Regional Counsel-North is seeking a second chair attorney for post-conviction death penalty litigation.  CCRC-N advocates on behalf of indigent persons sentenced to death in the State of Florida in their state and federal capital postconviction proceedings.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES:

Duties include developing a rapport with death sentenced clients, re-investigation for guilt and penalty phase issues, public records litigation, motions for post-conviction relief in the trial court and petitions for writ of habeas corpus in federal court, conducting evidentiary hearings, and filing of appeals in the FSC, 11th Cir., and USSC.  Second chair attorneys will work with a lead attorney, an investigator, and experts to develop mitigation themes and challenge forensic evidence.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Must be a Florida Bar member and must have excellent research and writing skills.
