POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for the overall command, direction, and control of the Business Support Program (BSP Office of Planning and Budgeting (OPB). Incumbent directs, plans, budgets, and administers functions of OPB, ensures ongoing communication with supervisors and members about Bureau, Division and Department issues.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific duties include:

  • Managing, motivating, directing and coordinating bureau members by assigning projects and tasks; establishing deadlines and objectives, prioritizing projects; assisting members with determining overall objectives; reviewing and editing work products to ensure accuracy, quality and timeliness; providing ongoing feedback on work assignments and products, including suggestions for enhancement and improvement;
  • Directing fiscal management and oversight of operating and project budgets for the division to ensure the division operates within budget authority and allotments;
  • Directings the research, planning, writing, and submission of grant opportunities to fund projects important to the division and the Department;
  • Coordinating the tracking of federal grants trust fund authority and grant project fund balances;
  • Ensuring procurement of goods and services is managed consistent with Florida law and department policy;
  • Overseeing the state financial assistance programs that fall within FDLE operations; and
  • Reviewing, recommending, and coordinating legislative budget requests.

 

To be considered as a potential candidate, you must meet the minimum qualifications(s) listed below. Degrees must be from an accredited college or university as recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. At least three years of supervisory experience. 

 

PREFERENCE:

  • Preference may be given to applicants with budget and grant management experience.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of the methods of data collection and analysis;
  • Knowledge of basic management principles and practices;
  • Ability to supervise people;
  • Ability to organize data into logical formats for presentation in reports, documents, and other written materials;
  • Ability to utilize problem solving technique;
  • Ability to work independently;
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments;
  • Ability to demonstrate strong leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills; and
  • Ability to effectively manage cross-functional teams and complex business operations.

BASE SALARY:

  • $95,790.00

 

NOTES:

Starting salary will be at the minimum of the class pay range, unless otherwise dictated by FDLE's pay policy. The elements of this selection process may include a work sample and/or interview. Future vacancies may be filled from this position advertisement.
