POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is in the Firearm Eligibility Bureau, reporting to the Firearm Purchase Program (FPP) section. This is a full-time position that participates actively in the management team of Criminal Justice Information Services, including consulting with the Director, Deputy Director, Bureau Chiefs, and other division leaders on the formulation of overall goals and objectives, policy and operational issues, and special projects.  This position oversees the Firearm Purchase Program and is responsible for the administration and resolution of management problems pertaining to the activities of the section.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific duties include:

  • Formulating objectives by outlining goals, activities, and special projects which are consistent with the section and bureau overall objectives and mission, and conveys to section members;
  • Overseeing the coordination of various work volumes daily and addressing them through recommendations to the operations and management consultant manager;
  • Monitoring operational activities to meet specific measurable objectives and ensuring compliance with state and federal laws and operational goals;
  • Identifying potential problems, alternatives and resolutions and discussing same with bureau and division counterparts to ensure all possibilities are considered.  Implementing such action when appropriate and advising all affected section, bureau, and division supervisors and members;
  • Providing research, analysis, and assimilation of information relative to laws, rules and regulations that directly or indirectly have an impact on criminal justice data;
  • Preparing reports and responding to requests for data or assistance with current, accurate, understandable, and practical recommendations and information in a manner established by agency policy and in discussion with Bureau Chief;
  • Representing the section, bureau, or agency in a professional manner at meetings, conferences, workshops, taskforces, and workgroups by being prepared, arriving on time, and actively participating as directed by the Bureau Chief; and
  • Performing other related duties where appropriate or as requested by the Bureau Chief. 

 

To be considered as a potential candidate, you must meet the minimum qualifications(s) listed below. Degrees must be from an accredited college or university as recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

 

SPECIAL NOTE:

Starting salary will be at the minimum of the class pay range ($61,800) plus 5% ($64,890) due to the operating hours of the unit, unless otherwise dictated by FDLE's pay policy.  The operations of FPP are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. 7 days a week, 363 days a year and this position is required to work some evenings, weekends and holidays.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. At least two years serving as a team lead or in a leadership capacity.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

    • Knowledge of the methods of data collection and analysis;
    • Knowledge of basic management principles and practices;
    • Ability to supervise people;
    • Ability to organize data into logical formats for presentation in reports, documents, and other written materials;
    • Ability to utilize problem solving techniques;
    • Ability to work independently; and
    • Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments.

BACKGROUND:

FDLE requires an extensive background process of all recommended applicants.
