The Reemployment Assistance Appeals Commission, also referred to as RAAC or the Commission, is the quasi-judicial administrative appellate body responsible for reviewing contested decisions of FloridaCommerce reemployment assistance appeals referees. The Commission is comprised of a Chairman and two Commissioners, each appointed by the Governor, and confirmed by the Senate, and is 100% federally funded. The Commission is housed within the FloridaCommerce, however, it operates as an independent review body.

The Work You Will Do:

You will be the primary receptionist for the Commission. This position is responsible for providing the primary clerical and customer service support to the Commission. You will work under the direct supervision of the Chief Deputy Commission Clerk of the Reemployment Assistance Appeals Commission but must be capable of exercising a high degree of independent judgment and discretion. This position requires a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail, ability to understand appeal practices and terminology, knowledge of office procedures and practices, and ability to effectively handle telephone calls. The incumbent must be able to interact across multiple program areas within the agency. You must be cognizant of the importance of federal and court-imposed deadlines and organize work to ensure that deadlines are met.

Where You Will Work:   

The Reemployment Assistance Appeals Commission is located at 1211 Governors Square Blvd, Suite 300, Tallahassee, Florida 32301. This is an on-site position, with a required work schedule of 8:00am – 5:00pm, Monday through Friday.

Pay:    $42,000.00 Annually

 

 

Your Specific Responsibilities:

  • Acts as the primary deputy clerk answering the Commission’s main telephone line, routing phone calls, and independently providing responses to general questions regarding policies and procedures involved in the Commission’s appellate work or routine calls regarding the status of cases before the Commission.

 

  • Processes incoming documents, including scanning, stamping documents, uploading documents to the Commission’s case system, and routing documents to the intended recipient.

 

  • Receives visitors and ensures all visitors sign into the visitor log.

 

  • Assists with the Commission’s clerical and administrative duties.

 

  • Assists the Executive Assistant and other appropriate personnel when shipments are received.

 

  • Assists management with office management by ensuring all visitors are signed into the visitor log and are identified appropriately, informing management of any visits or scheduled maintenance, and preparing conference room for meetings and events.

 

  • Assists in the processing of orders, notices, or other filings for issuance.

 

  • Reviews appeal cases to determine appropriate responses to telephone calls and routing of documents.

 

  • May act as backup to assist with setup of incoming appeals.

 

  • Performs other similar duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

As a condition of pre-employment eligibility, a Level 2 security background screening is required, which consists of fingerprinting and a check of local, state, and national law enforcement records. 

 

Minimum:   

  • Duties and responsibilities of this position must be performed at the official work site of the Commission.
  • A high school diploma or its equivalent and two years of office work experience, clerical experience, customer service experience, or similar experience. College education from an accredited institution can substitute for the required experience on a year for year basis.
  • Experience must be verifiable with application. 

Preferred: 

  • Experience answering a multi-line phone system is a plus.
  • Experience in a State government benefits program is a plus.
  • Legal experience, knowledge of appellate practices, or reemployment assistance appeals experience is a plus.
