The Florida Commission on Offender Review, formerly known as the Florida Parole Commission, is looking to fill the Commission Investigator – CS. The Commission on Offender Review performs a vital role in Florida’s criminal justice system by preserving the autonomy needed in post-release decisions affecting inmates and ex-offenders. Commissioners preside over weekly meetings at the central office in Tallahassee and various other state locations as required by statute. During these public proceedings, the commissioners make a variety of determinations regarding parole and other releases.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Review Conditional Release and Addiction Recovery Interviews received in Central Office. These interviews are submitted by the Florida Department of Corrections’ staff for the purpose of determining eligibility for supervision. Calculate the supervision max date for the Commission and make the appropriate data entries in the Corrections Data Center (CDC) database.
- Assist the other Commission Investigator counterpart by conducting a second level quality assurance check of inmate eligibility for Conditional Release and Addiction Recovery Supervision.
- Review requests for curfew extensions, modification of special conditions of supervision, or termination from supervision. These requests come from the Florida Department of Corrections, inmates, offenders, and family members/supporters for the purpose of determining if the request should be placed on a Commission docket.
- Coordinate with the Florida Department of Correction’s Compact staff regarding Interstate Compact issues.
- Answer telephone and electronic inquiries from the Florida Department of Corrections regarding eligibility issues, case status, or docket scheduling.
- Respond to inmates, offenders, and family members/supporters through mail, email, and phone correspondence.
- Run criminal histories as a certified eAgent (NCIC/FCIC) operator.
- Perform other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of the criminal justice system.
- Skill in the operation of personal computers.
- Ability to work under stressful conditions.
- Ability to determine work priorities and ensure proper completion of assignments.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships.
Preference may be given to applicants that possess a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
As a part of the interview process, a written work sample may be given at the start/conclusion of the verbal interview.
