We are seeking a highly motivated, dynamic, forward-thinking individual to serve as a key member within the Office of Communications of the Department of Business and Professional Regulation.

The Work You Will Do:

This is a highly responsible, professional position that provides support to the Office of Communications under the direction of the Deputy Communications Director. Duties include, but may not be limited to:

 

  • Drafting written communication for social media, newsletters, articles and related items; aiding in updating the department’s intranet and external website. Creating and editing graphics for use on social media and in internal and external newsletters, brochures, events, etc. to enhance the overall communications efforts and goals of the department.
  • Assisting with the department’s external affairs process, including Secretary and Deputy Secretary travel, by coordinating between the Office of Secretary, division staff and event hosts to manage timelines and draft materials such as talking points, speeches, PowerPoint presentations, and one-pagers. Working with the Deputy Communications Director and Communications Director to brainstorm, plan and execute department-hosted internal and external events, including conferences, expos, panel discussions, etc.
  • Working on special projects as assigned by the Office of the Secretary, including booklets, partnerships, videos, etc.; facilitating partnerships with large groups/organizations to maximize outreach and reinforce goals/initiatives; managing Office of the Secretary review of documents, reports and external materials drafted by the department’s divisions; Editing and Reviewing annual reports; Managing the public records process for the Office of Communications; Supporting the department’s role in the state’s response to natural disasters, including updates on the department’s efforts and developing written materials and digital content.
  • Assisting with joint sting operations by the Division of Regulation with other agencies; updating the Division of Regulation’s Unlicensed Activity webpage on a regular basis; drafting press releases regarding the Division of Regulation’s efforts. Assisting with the Planning, research, development, marketing, and production, of promotional, educational, instructional, and informational material regarding agency or division programs, including Unlicensed Activity. Contribute to improvement of the Department’s media outreach to amplify agency values and messages. 
  • Assisting with answering media calls, gathering information, preparing reports, and daily administrative activities as necessary. Tracking and reporting content effectiveness metrics to internal stakeholders, as well as continually monitoring, analyzing and tuning messaging to maximize impact.

Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field of study is preferred. Professional experience in communications, or a closely related field, may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the preferred college education.
