This internal advertisement is for a SES (Selected Exempt Service) position located at Central Office in Tallahassee, FL, in the Bureau of Admission & Release.
The mission of the Bureau of Admission & Release in the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) is to ensure the accurate and efficient processing of inmates entering and exiting the correctional system.
This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.
JOB DUTIES:
- Staff Motivation and Evaluation: Motivate and evaluate subordinate staff to ensure work meets Department standards.
- Regular Communication: Hold regular staff meetings and individual discussions with employees.
- Policy Analysis: Review court decisions and proposed law changes, recommending and drafting necessary policy revisions.
- Procedure Implementation: Develop and coordinate strategies for procedural changes in the automated information system based on legal updates.
- Program Supervision: Oversee testing and analysis of computer programs for court-ordered payment data.
- Employee Evaluation: Regularly evaluate employees using established criteria and ensure compliance.
- Policy Preparation: Prepare and coordinate rules, policies, and procedure directives with legal departments to ensure compliance.
- Training and Contract Management: Deliver job-related training, manage the Greyhound/FlixBus contract, and serve as the statewide contact.

REQUIREMENTS:
Please note, when submitting a college/university degree, if selected for this position official transcripts will be required.
- Must be currently employed with the Florida Department of Corrections.
- Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent.
- Must possess at least five (5) years of experience in auditing court commitments to state custody and calculating inmate release dates; OR at least eight (8) years of supervisory experience.
Support of knowledge, skills, and abilities should be demonstrated on the application, in the education, in the work experience, in the work sample, in the interview and/or during reference checks.

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT
The Florida Department of Corrections requires all job applicants and volunteers to pass a Level 2 background check as per Chapter 435, Florida Statutes. This check must be completed before they can start working or volunteering.
