WORKING TITLE: Correctional Program Administrator

This open competitive advertisement will be used to fill two (2) SES (Selected Exempt Service) Correctional Program Administrator- SES positions in the Bureau of Classification Management located at Central Office in Tallahassee, FL.

These positions are not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.

The main function of the Bureau of Classification Management is the support of classification field staff in their direct responsibilities in the case management of the inmate population from reception through release. The Bureau is also responsible for maintaining the system that drives all classification processes as well as processes from other Bureaus and entities.

The Correctional Program Administrator’s assist the Bureau Chief in Classification Management by managing and directing the daily operations of the offices of Classification Services and Systems Development, and  . Community Release Programs.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates the activities and assigned workload to ensure the Bureau’s support of classification field staff in case management of the inmate population from reception through release and maintaining the system that drives all classification processes. Supervise, motivate, train and evaluate the work of employees, with authority to hire, transfer or discipline subordinate staff.

 

  • Provide leadership and direction by setting unit goals and objectives, developing necessary policy, and ensuring that the quality and quantity of work performed by the unit meets the Department’s expectations and accomplishes the established mission.

 

  • Establishing and maintaining relevant controls and systems to monitor the operations of classification statewide. Manages all processes in such a manner to ensure that work objectives, time cycle objectives, and workflow are efficient and effective.

 

  • Responsible for planning, organizing, implementing, directing and managing the Community Release Program, ensuring the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) is in operating in accordance with statutes and rules. Conducting bi-annual audits and monitoring of all vendor operated community release centers.

 

  • Analyzes and maintains data from the FDC’s Work Release Inmate Monitoring System (WRIMS) website application  to ascertain trends and/or any deficiencies that may occur at community work release facilities.

 

  • Manage the development and modification of the statewide administration of the inmate automated classification system and procedures.

 

  • Provides training and interpretation of the FDC’s rules, policies, and procedures for staff (department and vendor) and resolve any issues that may arise.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have at least three (3) years Classification Supervisor or higher.
  • Must have at least six (6) years at a professional level in Classification or Security, professional level includes.
    • Classification Officer or higher
    • Correctional Services Assistant Consultant or higher
    • Correctional Officer Sergeant or higher.
  • Experience working with Vendors/Contractors
  • Experience working with OBIS programs/systems
  • Experience updating Rules, Technical Manuals and Procedures

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT
