ADVERTISING TITLE: Correctional Services Assistant Consultant: Admissions and Release
This internal advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Central Office in Admissions & Release.
As a member of the Admissions & Release team, our mission is to ensure the accurate and efficient processing of inmate admissions and releases. We are dedicated to maintaining the integrity of our records, upholding legal and procedural standards, and supporting the smooth operation of the Florida Department of Corrections.
This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.
JOB DUTIES:
- Independently audit commitment documents to ensure accurate sentence structures and release dates, manually calculating jail time credits and adjusting data as needed. Keep field staff and the Florida Commission on Offender Review (FCOR) updated on any changes.
- Handle emergency releases, create engaging presentations, and train new Admission & Release employees on auditing processes and administrative tasks.
- Review and respond to inquiries from institutional staff, explaining complex sentence structures and release date calculations to help them effectively communicate with inmates.
- Lead exciting projects and work assignments, monitor the E-Filing Portal, and respond to law enforcement inquiries about inmate deliveries or returns.
- Communicate with judges, public defenders, state attorneys, and other officials to resolve discrepancies in commitment documentation, ensuring accurate and timely processing. Maintain daily status reports, track sentence structure assignments, and apply relevant case law decisions, statutes, and legal advice during audits.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be currently employed with the Florida Department of Corrections.
- Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent.
- Must possess experience auditing sentencing data/data calculating release dates.
Support of knowledge, skills, and abilities should be demonstrated on the application, in the education, in the work experience, in the work sample, in the interview and/or during reference checks.

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT
The Florida Department of Corrections requires all job applicants and volunteers to pass a Level 2 background check as per Chapter 435, Florida Statutes. This check must be completed before they can start working or volunteering.
