ADVERTISING TITLE: CORRECTIONAL SERVICES CONSULTANT

This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Tallahassee in the Central Office in the Community Release Programs Department.

The purpose of the Correctional Services Consultant is to ensure compliance, effective operation, and resolution of issues within Community Release Program Centers through audits, site visits, approvals, communication, data analysis, and training.

This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Conduct regular audits and site visits of Community Release Program Centers to ensure compliance with rules, policies, and contracts.
  • Approve or modify inmate placements and terminations to use program space effectively.
  • Communicate with staff, vendors, inmates, families, and the public to address concerns and provide information about the programs.
  • Analyze data to identify trends and problems at Community Release Program Centers.
  • Serve as a mediator between offices and vendors and provide training on rules and procedures when needed.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalency.
  • Applicant must be a current or former FDC employee.
  • Applicant must have seven (7) years of experience working in a professional Classification, Correctional Officer Series, or Probation Officer position (professional classification includes Classification Officer or higher; Correctional Services Assistant Consultant or higher).
  • Applicant must have at least two (2) years or more of experience as a Classification Supervisor-SES or above.

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT

The Florida Department of Corrections requires all job applicants and volunteers to pass a Level 2 background check as per Chapter 435, Florida Statutes. This check must be completed before they can start working or volunteering.
