ADVERTISING TITLE: Correctional Services Consultant

This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Central Office in Population Management.

This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Organize and schedule all medical transfers between different institutions and reception centers.
  • Ensure inmates returning from crisis units or transitional care are placed in the right facilities for their medical needs.
  • Review and decide on transfer requests for inmates with medical or psychological issues, making sure they go to the best-suited facility.
  • Keep track of available bed space in crisis and transitional care units.
  • Help develop and manage policies for inmate transfers, using your judgment to approve or schedule movements between institutions.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Four (4) or more years of corrections or law enforcement agency experience. Postsecondary education may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
  • High school diploma or its equivalent. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with transfers and/or calculating bed space availability.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office.
  • Experience using Offender Based Information System (OBIS).

Support of knowledge, skills, and abilities should be demonstrated on the application, in the education, in the work experience, in the work sample, in the interview and/or during reference checks.
