Job Description
This position is within the Policy Section in the Office of Court Services and involves advanced planning, implementing, and managing statewide projects aimed at improving court operations. It provides policy support and technical assistance to various commissions of the Florida Supreme Court, such as the Commissions on District Court of Appeal and Trial Court Performance and Accountability. This position also coordinates various projects involving other Office of the State Courts Administrator (OSCA) units, including directing the work of other court analysts, and researches and evaluates essential elements of the State Courts System, including court reporting, court interpreting, expert witnesses, and mediation services. 

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
•    Lead multiple workgroups.
•    Develop and manage timelines, agendas, and meeting materials for workgroups, ensuring that projects are effectively advanced.
•    Assist in developing reports and narratives, conducting research, and analyzing data to measure the effectiveness of district and trial court policies.
•    Design surveys and analyze data to establish statewide standards and best practices for court operations.
•    Provide outreach and technical assistance to various court systems and public-sector stakeholders.
•    Manage special projects and respond to time-sensitive matters.
•    Conduct presentations and prepare documentation, including charts, issue summaries, and reports for judicial and court professionals.

 

Education and Training Guidelines
Education: Refers to job specific training and education that is recommended for entry into the position. Additional relevant experience may substitute for the recommended educational level on a year-for-year basis.

 

Bachelor’s degree in economics, statistics, information technology, business management, public or business administration, social science, or a closely related field.

 

Experience: Refers to the amount of related work experience that is recommended for entry into the position that would result in reasonable expectation that the person can perform the required tasks. Additional relevant education may substitute for the recommended experience on a year-for-year basis, excluding supervisory experience.

 

Five years of related work experience.

 

Competencies
•    Ability to serve as a project leader and apply principles and techniques of project planning including supervising and directing the work of court analysts and support staff on a variety of court projects.
•    Ability to design, employ, and direct research initiatives to evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of court policies and programs.
•    Ability to interpret and apply data to policy decisions as intended.
•    Ability to produce written reports and make oral presentations explaining policy and research initiatives to judges and other court professionals.
•    Knowledge of implementing and managing court programs including the formulation of statewide standards.
•    Ability to conduct outreach and provide support to Supreme Court Committees and State Courts System stakeholders. 
•    Ability to always exercise tact and diplomacy when interacting with judges, trial court administrators, clerks of court, legislative staff, and other state agencies.
•    Ability to take initiative and show ownership of work products.
•    Ability to travel occasionally.

This position requires onsite work in Tallahassee, Florida.
