POSITION SUMMARY:
This is a full-time position in the Firearm Eligibility bureau (FEB), reporting to the Eligibility Research Unit. This position is responsible for the decision-making related to firearm transactions. Incumbent will be responsible for providing quality service and information to internal and external customers. The position provides training and guidance to other members in the Firearm Eligibility bureau. Incumbent must meet and maintain National Crime Information Center/Florida Crime Information Center (NCIC/FCIC) certification as required and is responsible for maintaining the security and integrity of data housed within the department databases.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Specific duties include:
- Evaluating firearm transaction records to identify missing or inaccurate information;
- Coordinating various daily work volumes and making adjustments by monitoring workflow status to maximize efficiency;
- Providing functional and technical support to various criminal justice systems and assisting in system administration;
- Creating cases to be docketed for review by the Office of General Counsel (OGC);
- Processing technical cases that require extensive research and applying relevant laws, policies, and procedures to ensure completeness and accuracy of criminal justice information;
- Providing quality assurance on completed firearm related transactions and related research;
- Monitoring queues in Computerized Criminal History (CCH) workflow;
- Assisting in the coordination of FEB member training; and
- Preparing documents or publications explaining FEB services.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective communication;
- Knowledge of state and federal firearm disqualifiers;
- Knowledge of the criminal justice system;
- Knowledge of the methods of data collection;
- Ability to collect, evaluate and analyze data;
- Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques;
- Ability to monitor criminal justice information activities;
- Ability to work independently by planning, organizing, and coordinating work assignments;
- Ability to communicate effectively; and
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with others.

BASE SALARY:
- $47,668.14
NOTES:
Starting salary will be at the minimum of the class pay range, unless otherwise dictated by FDLE's pay policy. The elements of this selection process may include a work sample and/or interview. Future vacancies may be filled from this position advertisement.
