POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Senior Management Analyst Supervisor, this position serves as the subject matter expert to NIBRS/FIBRS policy and conduct record integrity audits for agencies submitting NIBRS/FIBRS and Use of Force data to the FIBRS database. This position conducts independent research relative to laws, rules and regulations that have an impact on criminal justice data. This position is responsible for processing criminal justice information access requests and providing a recommendation regarding these requests. This position may on occasion be asked to conduct lectures and present information to outside agencies. This position must meet and maintain National Crime Information Center (NCIC)/Florida Crime Information Center (FCIC) certification as required and is responsible for maintaining the security and integrity of data housed within the department databases.

 

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific duties include:

  • Serving as a subject matter expert to NIBRS/FIBRS policy and conducting record integrity audits as required by state and federal laws, rules, and policies;
  • Serving as liaison with internal and external customers regarding criminal justice information;
  • Providing support and resolutions to both internal and external customers;
  • Providing assistance to other sections, consistent with the goals, philosophies and values of the Department;
  • Responding to requests for information or assistance with current, accurate, understandable and practical recommendations and information;
  • Creating a tentative audit itinerary for the fiscal year showing all audit trips necessary to obtain assign goals;
  • Conducting correspondence and on-site audits (25% travel) of agencies with direct or indirect access to Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) systems in a professional, thorough, and efficient manner in assigned service area on a tri-annual basis or as assigned;
  • Reviewing and analyzing information from various data sources to ensure compliance with criminal justice information services policies;
  • Conducting out briefing detailing preliminary findings with command staff,  FIBRS coordinators, or local agency representatives; and
  • Preparing detailed report of audit results to agency heads.

 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective communication;
  • Knowledge of the criminal justice system;
  • Knowledge of the methods of data collection;
  • Ability to read, interpret, and understand FBI and FDLE criminal justice information services policies.
  • Ability to collect, evaluate and analyze data;
  • Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques;
  • Ability to operate computers and other office equipment;
  • Ability to monitor criminal justice information activities;
  • Ability to work independently by planning, organizing, and coordinating work assignments;
  • Ability to communicate effectively; and
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with others.

BASE SALARY:

  • $ 53,917.24

 

 

NOTES:

Starting salary will be at the minimum of the class pay range, unless otherwise dictated by FDLE's pay policy. The elements of this selection process may include a work sample and/or interview. Future vacancies may be filled from this position advertisement.
