POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direct supervision of the  Manager l, this position acts as a liaison with various agencies and the general public providing quality service regarding criminal history record check requests. This position is responsible for processing transactions and making appropriate decisions, as well as evaluating criminal history records for matches. This position uses various databases to process requests for criminal history information and validates information as required. This position must meet and maintain FCIC/NCIC (Florida Crime Information Center/National Crime Information Center) certification, as required, and is responsible for maintaining the security and integrity of data housed within the department databases.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific duties include:

  • Maintaining liaison with local, state, and federal criminal justice agencies, other criminal justice agencies outside the State of Florida, non-criminal justice agencies, and the general public;
  • Logging into the Automatic Call Distribution (ACD) line promptly and responds to customer requests in a professional and courteous manner. Remains logged in and processing transactions, unless on a pre-defined break or otherwise directed by a supervisor;
  • Ensuring misrouted calls are handled correctly and distributed to the appropriate section;
  • Monitoring multiple e-mail boxes for incoming customer inquiries;
  • Evaluating fingerprint cards received for legibility and processes them accordingly;
  • Processing certified requests for criminal history information, which includes the application of the member’s signature;
  • Reviewing criminal history information to ensure it is complete and accurate;
  • Reviewing and processing requests for criminal history information for general public, statutorily mandated entities, and those authorized by state and federal law;
  • Maintaining various logs and records of the requests received and processed; and
  • Evaluating criminal history record check requests for matches with existing criminal history records maintained in the Computerized Criminal History (CCH) files, as assigned, and FCIC/NCIC hot files, as assigned.

  • Knowledge of general office procedures and practices;
  • Ability to record, collect, evaluate, and analyze data;
  • Ability to organize files, records, and/or other materials;
  • Ability to sort data alphabetically, numerically, and categorically;
  • Ability to operate personal computers and other office equipment;
  • Ability to read and interpret law enforcement data;
  • Ability to follow instructions;
  • Ability to review data for accuracy and completeness;
  • Ability to read and interpret state statutes; and
  • Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments.

 

BASE SALARY:

  • $39,140.00

BACKGROUND:

FDLE requires an extensive background process of all recommended applicants. The elements of a background include: financial credit check, criminal history of applicant and applicant’s immediate family or roommates, personal references, employment and education verifications (which includes official transcript(s)), drug screen and fingerprinting.  This information will be utilized to make the final hiring decision.

 

NOTES:

Preference will be given to current FDLE members who have satisfactorily completed at least six months of the probationary period for their current position.
