The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) employs more than 1,900 members statewide – either at headquarters in Tallahassee or in one of seven regional operations centers (ROCs). Services are delivered by five key areas: Executive Direction and Business Support; Investigations and Forensic Science; Florida Capitol Police; Criminal Justice Information Services; and Criminal Justice Professionalism. To promote public safety and strengthen domestic security by providing services in partnership with local, state, and federal criminal justice agencies to prevent, investigate, and solve crimes while protecting Florida citizen’s and visitors. 


To be considered as a potential candidate, you must meet the minimum qualifications(s) listed below. Degrees must be from an accredited college or university as recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.


  1. A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and two years of experience in criminal justice, business administration, systems analysis, management analysis, procedure analysis, program planning, program research, program evaluation, customer relations or administrative work.
  2. A master's degree from an accredited college or university can substitute for one year of the required experience.
  3. Professional or nonprofessional experience as described above can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
  4. Any combination of professional or nonprofessional experience as described above and college education at the rate of 30 semester or 45 quarter hours per year can substitute for the required education.


Vacancies filled from this requisition may be assigned to one of the following bureaus:

Criminal History Services – The Criminal History Services (CHS) section provides criminal history record information to criminal justice agencies, non-criminal justice agencies, and qualified entities for the purposes of determining or maintaining eligibility for licensing and/or employment. Criminal Justice Information Analysts II in this bureau are responsible for analyzing requests for criminal history and forming a recommendation with regards to the dissemination of criminal history records. This position is responsible for evaluating applications and making recommendations on eligibility based on their evaluations. This position is responsible for establishing customer accounts within the CHS systems. This position also acts as a liaison with various agencies and provides quality service.

Crime Information Bureau - The Crime Information Bureau (CIB) creates, updates, modifies, and deletes criminal history information to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the criminal history records, as directed by Florida Statutes. Criminal Justice Information Analysts II in this bureau are responsible for researching various databases to ensure information received or disseminated is accurate and complies with state and federal requirements. This position is also responsible for entering additions, deletions, and modifications to Computerized Criminal History (CCH) and providing quality assurance for accuracy to these modifications.

Firearm Eligibility Bureau - The Firearm Eligibility Bureau (FEB) is responsible for fulfilling the requirements of the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act by conducting criminal history checks for federal firearm licensees and law enforcement agencies on individuals purchasing or receiving firearms. Criminal Justice Information Analysts II are responsible for researching various databases to ensure information received or disseminated is accurate and complies with state and federal requirements. This position independently researches and reviews information to make a recommendation on a firearm transaction decision using state and federal requirements. This position is also responsible for training of internal and external customers, critical review of transactions for discrepancies, and quality control of transaction evaluations. This bureau operates every day of the year, except Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, with operating hours of 9:00 am to 9:00 pm. Applicants must be willing to work flexible schedules and/or shift work, such as any combination of Monday through Friday, nights, weekends, or holidays.

  • Starting salary will be the minimum of the class pay range, unless otherwise dictated by FDLE’s pay policy. FDLE is a State of Florida Employer and offers a comprehensive benefits package, including:
