This advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Central Office in the Program and Reentry.

 

Salary Rate: $60,000.20 annually ($2,307.70 biweekly)

 

SALARY WILL BE DETERMINED IN ACCORDANCE WITH CURRENT PAY POLICY.

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The incumbent in this position is considered to have regulatory responsibilities and is subject to the provisions of Chapter 60L-36, Florida Administrative Code.
  • The employee in this position reports to the Bureau Chief and is responsible for the planning, developing, coordinating, monitoring, and evaluation of statewide wellness education programs to meet the needs of inmates.
  • Designs, develops, and coordinates programs and procedures to provide technical assistance statewide related to wellness education.  This includes identifying program needs and coordinating activities.
  • Identify funding sources and contact public and private sector entities to secure appropriate individual and team activity equipment in adequate levels to promote inmate participation and provide employee safety.
  • Conduct on-site visits to institutions and facilities to monitor program compliance with American Correctional Association Standards for wellness programs and to determine the program effectiveness in meeting the needs of inmates.
  • Conduct on site visits to close management institutions to ensure compliance with current wellness programming requirements.
  • Coordinate programs and services with the Office of Health Services, the Bureau of Substance Abuse Programs, and the Office of Chaplain Services to effectively promote the five components of wellness education (physical, social, emotional, spiritual and mental) to inmates.
  • Work in cooperation with other offices within the agency.
  • Draft responses to routine correspondence from inmates, relatives of inmates, governmental agencies, lawyers, the general public, and department staff.
  • Serve as a liaison with other departments and agencies on inmate and employee wellness initiates.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of Department of Corrections rules, policies and procedures.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• A high school diploma or its equivalent

• One year of professional experience in conducting recreational activities or health/wellness.

 

Correctional experience can substitute for one year of the required work experience.
