WORKING TITLE: DATA ADMINISTRATION ANALYST
This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Central Office in Tallahassee, FL, in the Research & Data Analysis Department.
The mission of the Research & Data Analysis Department in the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) is to provide accurate, comprehensive, and timely data and research to support informed decision-making and policy development.
This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.
JOB DUTIES:
- Advanced Data Analysis and Reporting: Compile and analyze data to produce specialized reports for departmental personnel, government agencies, legislative committees, and the public, including impact analyses of legislative and policy changes.
- Statistical Programming and Reporting: Write, maintain, and document advanced statistical programs to generate reports with detailed explanations, data visualizations, and actionable conclusions.
- Data Management and Quality Assurance: Coordinate and document Bureau data files, identify data needs, resolve technical issues, and ensure data validity, reliability, and accuracy for reporting purposes.
- Collaboration and Customer Support: Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, assisting in defining their information needs and delivering tailored solutions.
- Technical Expertise and Dashboard Development: Enhance skills in statistical software, advanced analysis, and Microsoft Power BI dashboard creation, while providing training and support to team members and identifying dashboard opportunities to benefit the department.

REQUIREMENTS:

- Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent.
- Must have experience with Microsoft Power BI or other data visualization program.
- Must have eight (8) years of professional of experience analyzing data and computer programming, writing programs, queries or formulas utilizing SAS, SPSS, R, SQL or other programming language.
- Postsecondary education may substitute for up to seven (7) years of the required experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to write briefs and technical papers.
- Verifiable course work in research methods and statistics.
- Experience complying with confidentiality regulations and policies.
Support of knowledge, skills, and abilities should be demonstrated on the application, in the education, in the work experience, in the work sample, in the interview and/or during reference checks.

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT
The Florida Department of Corrections requires all job applicants and volunteers to pass a Level 2 background check as per Chapter 435, Florida Statutes. This check must be completed before they can start working or volunteering.
