What you will do:

The Department of Children and Families' Quality Office is seeking a mission-driven Data Analyst to support Florida's children and families through data-informed decision-making. This role is pivotal in evaluating and improving service delivery by transforming raw data into actionable insights for a wide variety of stakeholders. We value professionals who are collaborative, impact-focused, and committed to continuous learning and innovation. This is an in-office position and does not qualify for remote work. The position is located in Tallahassee, Florida.

 

Expected Salary:  $65,000 - $70,000

Key Responsibilities

Data Analysis & Insights

  • Collect, extract, and analyze data from departmental and related databases to support operational and strategic initiatives.
  • Use a variety of statistical methods to identify trends, root causes, and effective practices.
  • Produce, maintain, and distribute dynamic reports and visualizations using tools such as Power BI, Qlik, Tableau, and Qualtrics.
  • Communicate findings clearly and effectively to leaders, program teams, and quality assurance units to drive informed decision-making.
  • Propose data-driven solutions to performance challenges and contribute to continuous improvement strategies.

Strategic Communication & Collaboration

  • Translate complex analyses into clear, actionable recommendations for stakeholders at all levels.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including leadership, program staff, QA, and training—to validate data and co-design interventions.
  • Support survey design, development of performance metrics, and evaluation frameworks that generate meaningful, actionable insights.
  • Model professional integrity, respect, and cultural competence in all interactions.

Capacity Building & Innovation

  • Stay current on tools, trends, and best practices in analytics and public service delivery.
  • Independently pursue opportunities to learn new software, methods, and technologies.
  • Contribute to the department's analytic capabilities by mentoring peers and recommending enhancements to reporting systems and processes.

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in human services 
  • 3–5 years of experience in research, evaluation, or analytics.

Preferred Qualification:

  • Master's degree in data science, public health, social sciences, statistics, or a related field.
  • A PHD or ABD can substitute on a year-for-year basis for required experience

 

Preferred Skills & Competencies

  • Proficiency in building and managing dashboards in Power BI, Qlik, Qualtrics, or Tableau.
  • Strong understanding of statistical methods including central tendency, trend analysis, and comparative evaluation.
  • Ability to synthesize complex data into clear, cohesive narratives for diverse audiences.
  • Experience with survey design and program evaluation within a human services or government context.
  • Proven track record of identifying process gaps and recommending strategic, data-driven solutions.
  • Self-starter with the ability to prioritize tasks independently while meeting deadlines and quality expectations.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to build trust and resolve conflict constructively.
