Job Description:

The Bureau of Community College and Technical Center Management Information Systems (CCTCMIS) maintains the data collection systems for the Florida College System. Additionally, the office provides technical assistance and customer support to Florida colleges on data collection requirements, specifications, and reporting criteria.

 

CCTCMIS is seeking an individual to serve in a full-time position as a Database Consultant. This position is responsible for the analysis, design, development, maintenance, security and integrity of the system-wide student database for the Florida College System. This is professional and highly technical work in the development and implementation of a large scale computerized interactive database system. This position participates in planning, programming, testing and documentation of technical operational processes for the Division of Florida Colleges and the Division of Career and Adult Education. CCTCMIS operates within a SAS 9.4 environment and Enterprise Guide. 

 

Preference will be given to individuals with SAS technical experience and higher education business experience.

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

Manage data collection processes and reporting requirements for postsecondary academic programs, career and technical education programs and adult education programs.

Develop and implement database programs, including documenting, and maintaining complex program logic and determining solutions to procedural and operational problems.

Coordinates the design and implementation of all enhancements to the student database to ensure that the database meet the needs of the agency. 

Coordinate data quality testing processes by conducting unit and system testing validating the design of databases/reports.

Process, analyze and verify data reported to the bureau.

Design, produce and analyze data validation reports.

Establish data collection standards and criteria including data elements definitions, formats, edits, and reference files.

Conduct presentations for internal and external stakeholders.

Provides technical assistance to internal and external stakeholders on data collection and analysis outcomes regarding academic programs, adult education programs, and career and technical education programs.

Experience in SAS programming or other programming languages.

Minimum Qualifications:

Three years of professional work experience conducting needs assessment and /or data analysis.

Three years of professional work experience working with SAS Programming/SAS Enterprise Guide or other programming languages.

Knowledge of database management.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Ability to communicate effectively including verbal and written communication.

Must be able to travel as needed.
 

Preferred Preference:

A bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university in computer science, management information systems, statistics, or mathematics.

LEAVE INFORMATION:

 

Annual Leave - All full-time Career Service employees filling established positions earn annual leave in varying increments dependent upon years of creditable service. Employees with up to 5 years of creditable service earn 8.667 hours per month, with 5 to 10 years earn 10.833 hours per month and those with over 10 years of service earn 13 hours per month. Employees in Senior Management Service and Selected Exempt Service positions are credited with 176 hours of annual leave upon appointment. In subsequent years, the annual allotment is credited on the anniversary date of the initial appointment.

 

Sick Leave -. Career Service employees earn 8.667 hours of sick leave credits per month.

 

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENTS
