POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Bureau Chief, this position is responsible for providing management, motivation, direction, and coordination for members within their section. This position supervises the Uniform Crime Reporting program to include Hate Crime and Use of Force and the implementation of the Uniform Arrest Affidavit as well as supervising the Criminal Justice Transparency Program.  The incumbent acts as liaison for criminal justice agencies, members of the public and other stakeholders regarding data collection.  This position also makes recommendations to resolve issues and problems within the section, and provides research and analysis of laws, rules, and regulations that could impact criminal justice information programs.  This position is also responsible for planning and implementing new programs related to criminal justice information and assisting with the strategic planning for the bureau.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific duties include:

  • Providing overall management and directions of all activities in the section;
  • Formulating objectives by outlining goals, activities and special projects which are consistent with the section and bureau's overall objectives and mission, and conveys to section members;
  • Overseeing the coordination of various work volumes daily and addressing them through recommendations to the operations and management consultant manager;
  • Ensuring coordination with counterparts within the Department with respect to work adjustments or procedural changes to ensure other areas are not adversely impacted;
  • Planning and implementing system enhancements, overseeing the coordination of the training of members and communication with external customers.  Troubleshooting new system issues to achieve goals and to ensure internal and external customer needs are met;
  • Developing standards and expectations for members;
  • Ensuring that members understand their responsibilities and that regular and constructive feedback is provided through performance evaluations and routine ongoing communication with members;
  • Recommending operational policies and assisting in the establishment of procedures and procedural manuals to implement policies, achieve operational objectives or resolve operation problems; 
  • Monitoring operational activities to meet objectives and ensure compliance with state and federal laws and operational goals; and
  • Preparing program user specifications and assisting programming staff with understanding data definitions, edits, program modifications, and output reports required by supplying written documentation and verbal instructions as required.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Two years of professional or supervisory experience; and
  • One year of supporting local law enforcement or training professionals.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Experience in developing, reviewing, and implementing policies and procedures to improve organizational effectiveness;
  • Knowledge of the methods of data collection and analysis;
  • Knowledge of basic management principles and practices;
  • Ability to supervise people;
  • Ability to organize data into logical formats for presentation in reports, documents, and other written materials;
  • Ability to utilize problem solving techniques;
  • Ability to work independently; and
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.

 

BASE SALARY:

  • $74,160.00

 

NOTES:

Starting salary will be at the minimum of the class pay range, unless otherwise dictated by FDLE's pay policy. The elements of this selection process may include a work sample and/or interview. Future vacancies may be filled from this position advertisement.
