The Work You Will Do:

DEP’s Office of Technology and Information Services (OTIS) is currently seeking a Data Processing Manager-SES.  This is a dedicated manager position of a technical team responsible for engineering, building and maintaining open-source systems including DevOps and data management.  Responsibilities also include improving DEP’s capacity for triaging and handling operational issues while advising development teams during the process of writing code that will make DEP’s entire codebase more reliable, testable, and scalable.  The incumbent of this position will represent OTIS, work closely with other managers and application developers and must be helpful, cooperative, polite, respectful, and courteous at all times in the interactions with customers.

Pay: $80,000 - $90,000


Your Specific Responsibilities:

  • Interact with team members to improve our engineers’ tools, technology stack, and application performance and stability
  • Establish, design, perform, and execute comprehensive technical projects 
  • Research and recommend emerging technologies for inclusion in the agency’s infrastructure and application architecture
  • Administer and maintain application servers and coordinate any architectural, infrastructure changes
  • Employ an open-source collaborative development design to broaden each significant feature and compose clear descriptions
  • Resolve operational concerns and production issues through collaboration with manufacturer support groups and various application or infrastructure teams 
  • Plan updates on a quarterly or annual basis
  • Report operational achievements and progress to Senior IT Management including statistical analysis and action plans as required. 
  • Responsible for improving overall quality of service by promoting the most efficient processes to achieve production operating objectives while reducing costs of service.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to supervise and mentor staff for peak performance
  • Ability to construct and execute network, server, and application status monitoring
  • Experience in dealing with application platform stacks
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Knowledge and experience with but not limited to, Oracle, Linux-based servers, Java, Docker, and PHP.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or related field or equivalent work experience
