JOB SUMMARY: This position is a senior-level leader serving as the Deputy Program Director for the General Tax Administration’s (GTA) IT initiatives. The Deputy Program Director of IT plays a critical leadership role in the strategic planning, coordination, monitoring, and execution of information technology initiatives. Reporting to the GTA Program Director, this position is responsible for overseeing program operations, managing cross-functional project teams, and ensuring alignment with organizational objectives, timelines, and budgets.

 

A key aspect of the role is effective communication — the Deputy Program Director serves as a primary liaison between technical teams, business process owners, executive and program leadership, and external stakeholders. This includes monitoring key IT projects, preparing and presenting reports, leading and facilitating meetings, resolving issues, and ensuring transparent, timely, and accurate information flow across all levels of the organization. The role demands a strong combination of technical knowledge, project management expertise, and interpersonal skills to drive the successful delivery of IT initiatives.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Seven years of progressive experience in IT project management.
  • Three years of experience leading and managing large teams.
  • Experience leading, monitoring, and providing executive-level briefings on the progress of IT projects and initiatives.
  • Experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder IT programs.
  • Experience with budget planning, legislative proposals, and resource allocation for IT initiatives. Experience with SAP-based systems and integration with legacy applications.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.

PREFERENCES:                

  • Experience in managing procurement processes, including vendor selection and contract negotiation. 
  • Experience in leading IT strategic planning that support enterprise-wide technology objectives.
  • Program Management Professional (PgMP) certification.
  • Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) certification.

SPECIAL NOTES:

This position is located in Tallahassee, FL, and is not eligible for remote work.

This position may require after-hours support to address system issues and maintenance activities.

SALARY: $116,000.04 - $120,000.00.
