Our Organization and Mission: The Office represents the State of Florida in state and federal civil and criminal courts, from trial courts to the Supreme Court of the United States. 

 

Position Summary: This position is in the Office of the Attorney General within the within the Office of Inspector General in Tallahassee, Florida.

 

Pay: $82,000 - $95,000 Annually

 

Qualifications: 

  • Nine (9) years of experience conducting internal audits in accordance with International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing published by the Institute of Internal Auditors, Inc., or Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards. OR,
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, and five years of experience as an internal auditor or independent posteditor, electronic data processing auditor, and/or accountant, or any combination thereof; Or
  • A master’s degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, business administration or public administration, and four years of experience as described above; Or
  • Possession of a Certified Public Accountant (C.P.A.) license issued pursuant to Chapter 473 or a Certified Internal Auditor (C.I.A.) certificate issued by the Institute of Internal Auditors or earned by examination, and four (4) years of experience as defined by Section 20.055, Florida Statutes.

 

The Work You Will Do: This position acts in a confidential capacity assisting in the auditing of programs, policies, and personnel. This is a highly responsible position necessitating the ability to perform the major portion of these duties with a minimum amount of supervision.

 

The duties and responsibilities of this position stem from enforcement of 20.055, F.S., administrative rules, policies and procedures of the Department, and other state and federal statutes and laws. This is a highly responsible managerial position assisting the Inspector General in directing and supervising the internal audit function in accordance with auditing standards. The Office of Attorney General (OAG) Office of Inspector General (OIG) Audit Director duties include: Performs audit functions in conformance with the Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards, as published by the Comptroller General of the United States, or the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing, as published by the Institute of Internal Auditors; develops the annual audit plan; conducts financial, performance, compliance, operational, and cybersecurity audits. Represents the Inspector General in their absence on all matters pertaining to the internal audit function; complies with Chapter 20.055, F.S. and implements Florida Statutes regarding the audit duties of the Office of Inspector General; conducts, supervises, and coordinates assurance services, performance and compliance engagements relating to agency programs and operations.

 

Supervises the Management Analyst II/Sr. Auditor; plans, directs, and assists the work of staff; guides staff to ensure that approved audit objectives are met, and that adequate, practical coverage is achieved; reviews and evaluates working papers, reports, and recommendations of staff for adherence to objectives and scope as well as adherence to professional standards; reviews audit reports and special projects prepared by audit staff and coordinates approval of final reports of audits and recommendations; ensures appropriate follow-up is performed. Performs the annual risk assessment, updates the audit manual, and assists with the production of the OIG Annual Report; schedules projects and staff assignments to comply with management’s needs within the scope of the agency’s overall audit plan. Maintains OIG audit records to assure reliability, accuracy, and proper retention and destruction of all audit records.

 

Assesses the reliability and validity assessment of the information provided by the Department on performance measures and standards and makes recommendations for improvement if necessary; reviews actions taken by the Department to improve program performance and meet program standards and make recommendations for improvement, if necessary.

 

Provides advice to Department officials and auditees on matters related to audit reports, special studies, and other related recommendations. Audit Director is the audit liaison between OAG and all external auditors, reviews audit reports of state and federal auditors and assists state and federal auditors as required.

 

This position may also assist with internal investigations resulting from audits, internal and/or external complaints or other related matters of the Office of the Attorney General.

 

Performs other related work as required.

 

This position may require extended hours and/or travel outside the worksite.
