This open competitive advertisement is for an OPS (Other Personal Services) position located at Central Office in Finance and Accounting.

 

As a member of the Finance and Accounting team, our mission is to ensure the financial integrity and accountability of the Florida Department of Corrections. This position is not a Telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves

JOB DUTIES:

The Bureau of Finance & Accounting is seeking a team member to perform professional level work in tracking and recovering natural disaster costs. This position is responsible for the following:

  • Support the Disaster Recovery team by handling all accounting and tracking needs, ensuring everything runs smoothly and efficiently.
  • Perform detailed accounting analysis throughout the project, gathering, auditing, and reconciling vendor invoices using systems like FLAIR, BARS, and MFMP.
  • Compile and review source documents to ensure compliance with all relevant statutes and rules and analyze complex financial data to support cost estimates.
  • Convert hard copy sheets into Excel for project accounting reports, maintain a detailed daily cost tracking database, and develop financial statements and reports.
  • Organize and upload documents into FEMA and DEM project management systems, communicate with staff as needed, and assist the project leader with various tasks to ensure project success. Work with section leads and management to meet objectives effectively.

You contribute 7.5% of your compensation to this tax deferred plan. All OPS employees are required to participate in this plan and are automatically enrolled.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Four (4) or more years of finance and administrative experience. Postsecondary education may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Preference will be given for the following experiences:

  • Project Management.
  • Analytical experience.
  • Advanced Excel experience.

Support of knowledge, skills, and abilities should be demonstrated on the application, in the education, in the work experience, in the work sample, in the interview and/or during reference checks.
