The employee must be productive under tight timeframes, balance multiple and competing priorities and maintain goal-directed behavior and performance sometimes under stressful conditions. The employee must interact courteously with others.
The employee’s performance and behavior must demonstrate consideration of the workload concerns of others and must not negatively affect productivity and morale of the unit. Attendance is an essential function of this position.
As a supervisor, the incumbent must communicate with, motivate, provide or coordinate training, and direct the work of his/her subordinates. In addition, the employee must complete timely performance appraisals, develop timely and accurate work plans, and timely approve monthly attendance and leave for each position under his/her direct report. Timesheets will be completed in the People First system in accordance with DOE policy. The incumbent has the authority to make hiring recommendations as well as disciplinary recommendations.
This is complex technical and administrative work supporting a statewide distributed computer systems network for use by end-users including hardware, software, and telecommunication components of distributed systems. The employee will supervise staff that delivers information technology support for end-users. The employee supports multiple office sites, which may require extensive travel.
Supervisory:
- Ensures compliance with Federal, State and Department directives through appropriate management of personnel and other resources.
- Manages the human resources and operational aspects of his/her direct reports.
- Evaluates performance by initiating regular discussions, taking appropriate and timely actions such as identifying training needs, providing coaching, counseling and role modeling for his/her direct reports.
- Recognizes and reinforces continual improvements.
- 1-25% travel
Operations:
- Team Lead for Field IT Network Team.
- Writes and maintains up-to-date technical documentation and operating procedures related to supported offices, networks, hardware, software, and applications.
- Assists in planning, maintaining, and monitoring the Division's telecommunication network infrastructure and systems.
- Maintains current knowledge of telecommunications systems (hardware and software) and makes recommendations in these areas.
- Coordinates and ensures the standard implementation of policies, procedures, best practices, and systems operations with direct reports.
- Acts as part of the network team responsible for the maintaining, planning, designing, and coordinating the various components of the Division's enterprise telecommunication network infrastructure.
- Performs infrastructure related tasks, such as managing Active Directory and DHCP.
- Maintains technology equipment inventory.
Work Assignments:
- Coordinates and performs computer and network support for the Division’s offices located throughout the state to include but not limited to, office relocations/closures, circuit installations/deletes, router installations/removals, switch configurations and deployments, electrical requirements, and network cabling.
- Assists with managing and follow through of technology projects.
- Performs computer Imaging, configuration, setup, and relocation.
- Acts as Group Administrator for all aspects of Hosted VoIP Service for area offices.
- Daily monitor the Division’s field offices networks.
- Research and act to resolve network issues.
- Prepare bandwidth/network utilization studies.
- Run My Florida Network (MFN) reports.
- Attends Area meetings with business units.
Technical Assistance:
- Troubleshoots Wide Area Networks (WAN), Local Area Networks (LAN), Personal Computers (PC) and the Division’s systems/applications issues.
- Handles incidents and service requests accurately and in a timely manner.
Training:
- Ensures IT Training for New Employees is provided in a timely manner and delivered following training guidelines.
- Delivers other relevant IT training as necessary.
- Assists with developing IT training materials for the Division.
Performs other duties as required, assigned, or delegated.
