Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience working in building construction, maintenance, or repair.

Valid Florida driver’s license.

Experience working with contractors and vendors.

Experience receiving and evaluating quotes for services.

Preferences:

Minimum of 3 years experience working in building construction, maintenance, or repair.

Ability to effectively communicate technical repair needs, both verbally and in writing, to vendors.

Experience with maintenance or repair of historic buildings.

Previous experience with facilities maintenance with the State of Florida.

Duties and Responsibilities:

This position will be responsible for working independently to support the Division Director’s office in coordinating maintenance and repair work at the Division’s historical homes and sites. The person hired to this position will also be asked to assess maintenance needs and perform minor property repairs, and coordinate with other Division maintenance and operations staff.

Duties include: Coordinates the process of maintenance and up-keep of the Division's historical homes and sites. Oversees building construction, alteration, and repair work performed by contractors and materials received for adherence to plans and specifications. Assesses existing buildings and recommends needed repairs and alternations, and coordinates personnel or contractors assigned to perform work. Performs minor property repair and maintenance work. Ensures that equipment is maintained in good working order. Performs work related duties as required.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Knowledge of electrical and mechanical operations, e.g., HVAC and security systems; power tools and vehicles; masonry; plumbing; basic word processing and internet use.
