MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least four (4) years of experience in a technology support environment Or a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in computer science or management information systems, AND
- At least four (4) demonstrable years of experience as an Oracle database administrator in a professional environment, college courses do not count toward the Oracle experience.
PREFERENCES:
- At least four (4) years as a Microsoft SQL database administrator.
- At least four (4) years experience with Unix/Linux system administration.
- At least four (4) years as a database administration in a State of Florida agency.
- At least four (4) years in a supervisory position in a State of Florida agency.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure and DevOps.

Duties and Responsibilities:
This position serves as the Bureau of Departmental Information Systems (BDIS) Lead Database Administrator and in this capacity maintains the Florida Voter Registration System (FVRS) database and manages the team that maintains all relational databases for the Department.
Provides supervisory responsibilities and direction to staff and is responsible for staff training, motivation, evaluation, and effective use of staff resources. Coordinates technical support priorities and determines the allocation of available resources.
Proposes and implement failover strategies. Performs or tasks database patches. Performs or tasks database upgrades and implement new features. Schedules or tasks the monitoring of successful database back-ups. Performs or tasks database restores as required. Creates or assigns new database environments to be created as needed. Performs or tasks data exports and imports as required.
Responsible for tasking staff who conduct low level monitoring, access control, and performance of FDOS data bases and the hardware it resides upon; overall solution configuration; database and related systems architecture, availability planning, including Disaster Recovery; direct reports monitor all database environments for integrity and efficiency; staff also monitor monthly solution capacity planning.
Performs or tasks database tuning as needed to address performance issues; Conducts or tasks proactive maintenance; proposes or tasks issue resolution; Responsible for analysis and query execution plans and index utilization, either tasked or assigned. Assists in the development of new applications, including system design, creation of tables, and setting performance metrics; analyzes and develop PL/SQL packages. Implement database schema modifications as required.
Maintain change logs for all database configuration updates and changes for all database servers. Maintain change logs for user accounts and ensure security standards are implemented. Provide monthly database performance reports. Generate baseline statistics and analyze database performance over time.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of data analysis techniques, database structures, and database theories.
- Knowledge of principles, practices and techniques of computer programming and system design.
- Knowledge of Oracle and SQL Server databases.
- Knowledge of Unix/Linux server administration.
- Ability to process information logically and analytically
