Minimum Qualifications:
Six years of direct professional experience including at least four years of professional archival experience in a formally-established archival program (for example: municipal, county, state, national, historical society, university)
OR
Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in history, public history, archives, records management, or library or information science AND at least four years of professional archival experience in a formally-established archival program (for example: municipal, county, state, national, historical society, university)
AND
Current Department of State employee.
Preferred Qualifications:
Nine years of direct professional experience or a doctoral degree from an accredited college or university in history or public history.
At least six credit hours of graduate or undergraduate coursework in 19th- and 20th-century Florida history.
At least nine credit hours of graduate or undergraduate coursework in United States history, particularly the history of the American South.
Demonstrated experience conducting archival research.
Formal coursework or training in professional archives theory and practice.
At least one year full time experience in providing instruction in history-related topics.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Planning, coordinating and conducting frequent public outreach activities for a broad range of audiences, including presentations and workshops for public employees, genealogists, family and community history researchers, academic researchers, and the general public.
- Responding to complex reference questions requiring deep historical knowledge and understanding.
- Contributing content to creative, well-researched and engaging exhibits, collections descriptions, Floridiana articles and promotional materials regarding historical events, trends and patterns. Content shall be tailored to various audiences such as students, genealogists and the general public.
- Selecting collections for digitization and managing the workflow of imaging projects of historical documents that will be useful and interesting to a variety of patron demographics.
- Managing and reviewing the work of digital volunteers, conducting transcription, or other related tasks.
- Performs other work-related duties as required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to develop and conduct outreach programs and to write and conduct both on-site and web-based presentations about a variety of historical topics for a broad range of general audiences including students, educators, genealogists and the general public.
- Understanding of digitization practices and programs and web design and content with a focus on historical topics and historical records.
