Duties and Responsibilities:

Supports Florida's libraries efforts to engage with their communities and connect with programmatic opportunities and resources. The consultant works with federal, state and local agencies and organizations to facilitate partnerships among and between these agencies, the Division and public libraries. The consultant identifies trends, analyses needs and provides up to date information to Florida's library staff, the Division and others.

Provides consulting services to Florida library administrators and staff, governing officials, library board members, and citizen supporters to encourage best practices with respect to emergency preparedness, displaced citizens, e-government, human and social services.

Prepares applications, reports, position papers, visual information sheets, social media content and other documents to support statewide programs that address the diverse needs and issues in Florida's communities related to the provision of community engagement and resources, emergency preparedness, e-government and human and social services. 

Works in a team environment in the Bureau of Library Development to plan and implement Bureau and Division activities, including continuing education opportunities, outreach, publications, surveys, grant administration, and other priorities.  Efforts are consistent with the values and beliefs of the Division enumerated in the long-range plan for library development in Florida. Ensures that usage of the State Purchasing Card (P-Card) conforms to all state and departmental rules and procedures.

Performs other work related duties as required

  • Knowledge of the Internet, social media practices, online privacy & ADA compliance
  • Strong writing & communication skills
