Minimum Qualifications:
- Current Department of State employee.
- Six years of direct professional experience or a master’s degree.can substitute.
Preferences:
- At least one year of cataloging experience
- At least one year of original cataloging experience
- Knowledge of rules and procedures for bibliographic control.
- Knowledge of rules and principles for organizing, cataloging, maintaining, and providing access to library materials.
- Experience working with special collections.
- Strong technology skills including Microsoft Office products and automated library systems.

Duties and Responsibilities:
This is a librarian position within the Division of Library and Information Services, Bureau of Library and Network Services, also known as the State Library of Florida. Duties include organizing, cataloging and processing library materials so patrons have access to the State Library collections.
- Performs complex original and copy cataloging of library materials in all formats for the library's collections using automated library systems.
- Performs maintenance of bibliographic, serial and authority records in library catalog for new and retrospective materials.
- Processes materials and does serial check-ins for library collections.
- Communicates with supervisor and staff through meetings, emails and reports documenting work activities and attends training to update professional knowledge and skills.
- Performs other work-related duties as required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Skill in data entry, searching and usage of computers
- Knowledge of rules and principles for organizing, cataloging, maintaining and providing access to library materials
- Ability to perform extended data entry
- Ability to lift and process boxes of books that may weigh up to 20 pounds
- Willingness to push loaded book trucks
- Ability to bend and reach to shelved materials
- Ability to climb and descend stairs
