Minimum Qualifications:

At least four (4) years of experience in a technology support environment OR a bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems can substitute

At least four (4) years of experience working as a network administrator.

Preferences: 

Certification in one or more of the following: Cisco Network Administration, Palo Alto Network Security Administration, Microsoft Desktop/Server Operating Systems, Networking, Security, Computer Programming, Computer/Information Technology Support.

Experience with Voice Over IP, server and storage system management tools and software, switch topology design, TCP/IP network communications and network security.

Four (4) years technical support in a State of Florida Agency.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

This position serves as the network manager within the Bureau of Departmental Information Systems (BDIS) at the Florida Department of State (Department).

Responsible for proactive network health measures.

Provides supervisory responsibilities and direction to staff and is responsible for staff training, motivation, evaluation, and effective use of staff resources. Coordinates technical support priorities and determines the allocation of available resources.

Manages the network team, which is responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining the Department's local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN) including the Florida Voter Registration System (FVRS) WAN, and wireless access points.

Performs or tasks provisioning of network connectivity for the Department and the FVRS: Maintain network hardware and software; Proactively monitor network and perform necessary maintenance/remediation to ensure network availability; Assists with providing web services (IIS) administration and deployments including certificates.

Performs or tasks daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity, performance, and availability of all Department network assets, systems, and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs. Serves as one of the points of contact with the Supervisor of Elections Office in each of the 67 counties within the State of Florida to ensure network connectivity and communications with FVRS.

Collaborate and coordinate with technical service team members at state datacenters to effectively manage core network connectivity for file server and storage systems, including scheduled maintenance periods.

Conduct testing and development of disaster recovery plans to detect faults, minimize malfunctions and backup systems as it relates to network functionality.

Assists in the completion of inventory audits.

Assists in the disposition of network equipment assets. Performs other work related duties as required.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Advanced knowledge of DNS, TCP/IP, VoIP, HTTP, VPN; troubleshooting network problems and outages.

Advanced knowledge of F5/Palo Alto switch/firewall and of HP & Cisco routers and switches.

Ability to collaborate with network architects on network optimization; design, setup, configure and support complex software for upgrading and maintaining network and telecommunication systems.

Ability to maintain multi-site network operations and software applications, operating systems and regular maintenance with both private and public facilities,

Ability to effectively manage a group of technical IT support personnel. Ability to work with non-technical users in resolving IT infrastructure.

Ability to communicate technical data effectively verbally and in writing.

Ability to work well in a team environment and work effectively under pressure.
