Mission San Luis seeks to fill one full-time and one part-time OPS Museum Education Program Specialist positions to assist with the interpretation of the site.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Available to work weekends on a regular basis and provide staffing for Mission San Luis as needed
  • Six months’ experience working and interacting with people
  • Resume and cover letter detailing experience

Preferences:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, museum studies, social studies, history, anthropology, theater, fine arts, or related fields or four years of experience in a similar field
  • Experience working at a museum or similar cultural site in either a paid or unpaid position

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Give introductions, tours, and programs to student and adult groups at Mission San Luis
  • Work outside in period correct clothing in varying weather conditions
  • Conduct site opening and closing procedures
  • Present period crafts and/or demonstrations
  • Help create and implement site programming
  • Staff special events at Mission San Luis as needed
  • Other educational duties as directed by supervisor
