Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be eligible to practice law in Florida and must be a member in good standing with the Florida Bar.
- 2 years of professional experience as an attorney.
Preferences:
- Experience as a judicial law clerk.
- Experience in election law
- Experience in criminal law

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary attorney for the Office of Election Crimes and Security (OECS); provide litigation support as needed; draft and review contracts and/or legal correspondence for OECS; provide legal guidance to the Director of OECS on a variety of issues that arise; provide legal guidance Florida Election Code (ch. 97 -106, Fla. Stat.); provide legal guidance on matters related to public records requests and/or discovery requests where OECS is involved; and in conduct all activities in accordance with state and federal law and Department/OECS guidelines.
- Review internal investigations into allegations of elections law violations and irregularities. Review OECS’s case files, each of which includes a compilation of documents related to each case and a recommendation from OECS staff. Determine whether further information is needed or if additional documentation should be included in the case file. Make additional criminal allegations or denote other irregularities of the case as necessary and remove allegations where the case file does not include a prima facie showing of a crime. Draft and issue referral letters to state and federal law enforcement, close out letters, fine letters, or additional correspondence necessary for each case. Close legally insufficient cases where there is no prima facie showing of a crime OECS has jurisdiction to investigate. Confer with law enforcement, agency partners, and specialists to obtain information or clarify facts relevant to each case.Confirm monthly the status of every referred case with the appropriate law enforcement agency.
- Ensure tracking of all calendar deadlines and court dates for any voting or voter registration case in criminal, civil, or administrative litigation.
- Successfully complete training in intelligence analysis, signature match verification, and any other training deemed appropriate and applicable to performing the duties of the position
- Complete any special assignments that fall outside of the scope of routine analytic duties, including project management and operational support. Provide suggestions and recommendations to management process improvement.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to fairly and impartially evaluate allegations of election law violations, irregularities, and crimes.
- Ability to access and interpret data pertaining to criminal investigations, election law violations, and election irregularities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Excellent organizational, writing, critical thinking, multi-tasking, and customer service skills.
- Ability to professionally and effectively communicate with other Department staff, management, members of the public, and officials at all levels.
- Skilled in data collection and legal analysis.
- Ability to organize and coordinate collaborative work assignments to execute operational plans through pre-established processes.
- Ability to manage analytic projects, including development, review, revision, and delivery of collaborative work products.
- Skilled in organizing data and investigative findings into a logical format for presentation in reports, documents, and other written materials.
- Ability to locate and interpret relevant statutes and court documents.
- Adept in using or learning how to use various forms of equipment and technology required for the position, including electronic
- databases and websites such as Voter Focus, DOC, CCIS, FCOR, DAVID, SAVE, and Clerk of Courts.
