The Florida Department of State has an exciting opportunity for an experienced ASP.NET IT Professional to join our small, efficient software development team and make tangible contributions to our innovative business support platform.  This position involves work to architect systems, leading multiple teams and mentoring other developers.  We have a portfolio of hundreds of software services with unlimited potential to grow.  The work is a blend of adding functionality to existing modules and forgoing new frontiers with new modules and services.  You will contribute to our development processes, launch continuous integration practices, and design automated unit testing.

The DOS Applications Development Manager will:

1. Evaluate end user needs, client goals, constraints and existing

applications to architect well designed structures that will grow and scale.

2. Design, develop and implement new applications, enhancement, and

new features to our products such as Cold Fusion, ASP Classic, ASP.NET, Visual Studio, MS Azure, and many older technologies that must be modernized.

3. Collaborate with and mentor IT staff.

4. Evaluate new technologies appropriate to core business functions and

make recommendations for those that provide value added and are cost effective.

             5. Assist with all levels of the SDLC including unit testing and ensure quality

                 and completeness of processes and implementations.

6. Assist with the DevOps functions and documentation.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
  • 8-15 years of total industry experience progressing to the level of software architect
  • 2+ years functioning as a team lead
  • Deep knowledge of .NET architecture and experience with C#, ASP.NET, MVC, SQL, Restful APIs, JavaScript, CSS, Razor, Dependency Injection, UI frameworks/libraries
  • Windows Azure and PMP certification preferred
