Job Description

The Director of Research and Analytics is responsible for planning, organizing, and coordinating research, reporting, and data governance for the Florida College System and reports to the Executive Vice Chancellor. The person in this position will have leadership responsibilities and will provide support to the Academic Affairs and the Workforce programs as well as serving as a liaison to various internal and external entities.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

The Florida Department of Education (FDOE) has an open position that is responsible for executing the following functions:

 

    • Functions as Director of Research and Analytics
    • The employee must interact courteously with others.
    • The employee’s performance and behavior must demonstrate consideration of the workload concerns of others and must not negatively affect productivity and morale of the unit.
    • Directs and supports the development, preparation, collection, review, and assessment of the implementation of the system wide accountability performance measures, and strategic plan.
    • Directs the collection, organization, and utilization of large data sets, ensuring proper visualization and communication of items of interest.
    • Identifies the need for, conceptualizes and directs research studies, which influence major policy decisions related to effectiveness and other academic areas. Supports the research agenda of the department.
    • Serves as staff liaison to the Methodology Review Committee and Data Governance.
    • Provides leadership and technical assistance to the 28 FCS institutions in the area of institutional research.
    • Represents the Chancellor of the Division before college councils, associations and other recognized groups that represent interests in the area of responsibility.
    • Administration of all personnel assigned to carry out the above areas of responsibility within the adopted budget of the Division. Supervise the Program Specialist IV and any research assistants or interns.
    • Performs other specifically assigned duties and special projects.
    • Performs other related work as assigned.

    • Problem identification, research ability, critical thinking, judgment and decision making, coordination and organizational skills, analysis and utilization of data, computer applications skills.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree with 1-3 years’ experience

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field.

LEAVE INFORMATION: SMS/SES

  • Annual Leave - Employees in Senior Management Service and Selected Exempt Service positions are credited with 176 hours of annual leave upon appointment. In subsequent years, the annual allotment is credited on the anniversary date of the initial appointment.
  • Sick Leave - Employees in Senior Management Service and Selected Exempt Service positions shall be credited with 104 hours of sick leave upon appointment. In subsequent years, the annual allotment is credited on the anniversary date of initial appointment.
