JOB DESCRIPTION:

This position is responsible for providing technical assistance to school districts in budgeting, accounting, corrective action on audit findings and financial reporting, which may involve interpretation on statutes, rules and accounting guidance.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Florida Department of Education (FDOE) has an open position that is responsible for executing the following functions:

  • Providing technical assistance to school districts in budgeting, accounting, corrective action on audit findings and financial reporting, which may involve interpretation on statutes, rules and accounting guidance
  • Overseeing timely collection and adequate review of district budget and financial data
  • Overseeing the preparation of and reviewing in-depth various federally required or statutorily required district financial reports
  • Overseeing audit-finding follow-up to ensure districts have taken appropriate corrective actions to address these findings
  • Maintaining the chart of accounts and updating reporting templates used by school districts and provide interpretation and guidance on accounting transactions
  • Administering monitoring activities of specific federal and state grants
  • Serving as subject matter expert on district financial matters

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATIONAL SUBSITITUIONS:

SB 1310: Substitution of Work Experience for Postsecondary Education Requirements.

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or University in Education with a major in accounting, finance, or a related business field is required

LEAVE INFORMATION:

    • Annual Leave - Employees in Senior Management Service and Selected Exempt Service positions are credited with 176 hours of annual leave upon appointment. In subsequent years, the annual allotment is credited on the anniversary date of the initial appointment.
    • Sick Leave - Employees in Senior Management Service and Selected Exempt Service positions shall be credited with 104 hours of sick leave upon appointment. In subsequent years, the annual allotment is credited on the anniversary date of initial appointment.
