JOB SUMMARY:
The Florida Department of Revenue is seeking qualified candidates for its Employee Relations Consultant position in the Office of Employee Relations. If you are interested in the multi-faceted area of employee relations and seek variety in your work, this is the position for you.
This position plays a vital role in supporting employees who need workplace accommodations due to disability, pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions, or religious accommodations, and works collaboratively with the employee and management to identify and implement reasonable accommodations.
This position also oversees the Department’s reemployment assistance cases, fitness for duty evaluation referrals, and Employee Assistance Program referrals.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employees seeking workplace accommodations covered under the Americans with Disabilities Act, Pregnant Workers Fairness Act, and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 as it relates to religion.
- Evaluates workplace accommodation requests, coordinates the interactive process between the team member and management, assists in identifying and implementing reasonable accommodations, and prepares final accommodation determinations.
- Stays current on legal requirements and trends related to disability, pregnancy, and religious rights and workplace accommodations, and provides guidance and training on accommodation best practices and compliance obligations. This includes designing training materials and job aids.
- Investigates and responds to reemployment assistance (RA) claim notices, information requests, and wage audits; participates in RA appeal hearings on behalf of the Department; processes quarterly Reemployment Tax Reimbursement Invoices for payment; and identifies and reports incorrect claims and potential fraud.
- Coordinates and prepares fitness for duty and Employee Assistance Program referrals.
- Develops and/or revises Standard Operating Procedures, Department policies, procedures, forms, and other communications related to workplace accommodations and RA activities.
- Assists in other Employee Relations functional areas, as needed.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Two years of professional experience in human resources or employee relations, including experience handling ADA or other workplace accommodations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, problem-solving skills, and ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
PREFERENCES:
- Experience processing reemployment assistance claims.
- Experience handling fitness for duty and/or employee assistance program referrals.
- Experience developing and presenting training.
SPECIAL NOTES:
- Writing sample may be required.
- Candidates must be able to demonstrate strong attention to detail, organizational skills, problem-solving skills, and ability to meet deadlines.
SALARY: $52,530.12 - $54,000.00.
