POSITION DESCRIPTION: This position is responsible for providing configuration patching and mobile device management related support to meet the latest compliance and other governance requirements.

 

Manage the administration of the department's system management within the assigned domains.  Responsible for assessing software patches, creating recommended patch list for routine maintenance, testing, deployment and validation of  security and update packages, end point antivirus, anti malware and vulnerability tools and scanning.  Evaluates and manages system security across the enterprise. Manage cloud based systems and patching tools for remote device management.  Develop and optimize pre- and post- patching process to ensure proper implementation without any outages.  Coordinate patch schedule with other teams such as Workstation Support group, Network Support group, InfoSec, and IT Management.  Communicate delivery and completion metrics through Microsoft reporting tools.

 

Serves as a technical subject matter expert (SME) in providing assistance to support mobile device and end point anti virus, anti malware technologies within the department including iPads, iPhones, Androids, tablets, and other mobile devices. Knowledge in the use of appropriate security controls and software to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of information technology resources.  Knowledge of vulnerability management tools and information security procedures. Supports and handles technical escalations, deploying enterprise mobile applications, and implement user-appropriate configurations.  Track and maintain an inventory of all mobile devices including key information such as device id, model, firmware, o/s version, user, phone number, and service plan administrator.

 

Follows Office of Information Technology (OIT) processes and guidelines in responding to Service Desk tickets. Monitors service desk environment for related tickets and assignments. Work to resolve assigned incidents and document work including incident resolution steps. Display technical skills, knowledge, and competency in the assigned technical areas of responsibility. Monitor and update the status of Service Desk calls to ensure compliance with established guidelines Provide a high level of customer service, providing status and information to the customer during the problem resolution process within established service level time requirements.

 

Attend meetings that relate to the department's system management environment and mobile device management as necessary providing technical expertise and  working with others on the team to complete project objectives. Research and make recommendations to supervisor regarding any software and/or hardware changes. Participates on statewide teams, both internal and external to the OIT.  Provide facts to facilitate the team's decision making process and to achieve the team's goals.  Shares information and receives feedback from other OIT staff as appropriate.

 

Create custom systems management and mobile device management reports for the OIT as needed. Serve as a member of the Computer Security Incident Response Team. Duties includes researching incidents, identifying corrective actions, documenting status and coordinating responses to Computer Security Incidents.  Provide support/information as needed for implementation of secure baselines through package roll out,  and/or group policy. After implementation of secure baselines, use tools to review and ensure compliance with established baselines.

 

Maintains a secure environment and systems infrastructure in accordance with all applicable policies, procedures and practices. Monitors system endpoints for security threats or unauthorized users.  Analyzes security risks and develops appropriate responses. Report project status as required for all recurring and non-recurring patching efforts. Provide technical assistance and support for incoming queries and issues related to computer systems, software, and hardware configuration and patching requirements.

 

Document assigned systems as per OIT standard processes. Generates and maintains technical documentation as assigned. Documents enterprise systems' processes and services. Plan for required upgrades to hardware and software to maintain reliability, availability, and security. Assure compliancy with software licensing. Test, deploy and validate software upgrades as needed.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to plan and organize complex technical projects; ability to provide excellent customer service; ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; ability to consult with management on technical matters; Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Windows Server and Desktop environment using Microsoft's domain services (Active Directory, Group Policy, etc.), including its administration and management; ability to develop custom reports utilizing Microsoft server tools; knowledge of current scripting technologies; knowledge of computer software, and hardware relative to Servers, Personal Computers, Local Area Network/Wide Area Network Environments; ability to troubleshoot application distribution using Microsoft server and client management tools; ability to create and distribute packaged applications to a desktop environment using a Systems Management Software application distribution model; ability to develop and maintain technical documentation for supported systems; ability to exhibit a positive mental attitude; ability to work alone while achieving quality output.

 

OTHER JOB RELATED REQUIREMENTS: This position may be entrusted with access to confidential or sensitive data, with specific authorization from the Chief Information Officer. This position is authorized to perform duties related to the production environment which requires a high level of trusted security.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A bachelor's degree from a college or university and five years of experience in computer systems analysis, computer programming or in planning or designing distributed computer systems; or A bachelor's degree from a college or university with major course of study in one of the computer sciences or in management information systems and four years of experience as described above; or A master's degree from a college or university with major course of study in one of the computer sciences or in management information systems and three years experience as described above; or A doctorate from a college or university with major course of study in one of the computer sciences or in management information systems and two years of experience as described above; or Six years of experience as described above and either (1) completion of a 720 classroom hour program of study from a vocational/technical school or community college in an area of data processing (excluding data entry), or (2) 60 semester or 90 quarter hours of college course work from an accredited institution which includes four courses in computer science or management information systems. Experience as described above can be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required college education. Completion of a one year program of study from a vocational/technical school in an area of data processing (excluding data entry) can substitute for one year of the required experience.
